Design Brief
The prompt for this project was to design a speaker for home use. There were not many constraints on the project besides the environment is it to be used in and the functionality of the design itself.
The Bento Speaker is inspired by on-the-go lunch. The Bento Speaker is meant to be easy to grab, handle, and place wherever the user goes. With the smooth handle, the Bento Speaker can easily slip into one’s hand to be transported or packed away. The design was also aimed to be something that can stand alone in a home or environment and not be something to hide. This speaker can sit on any nightstand, bookshelf, table, bathroom counter, kitchen island, and anywhere in your home and be quiet yet interesting. The speakers are placed on opposing sides to allow for maximum sound range and not allow for the speaker to be set down and not need adjustment to face the listeners. The simple volume up and down buttons allow for the speaker to be unobtrusive and user-friendly to avoid a required text to prep the user on function.
