Design Brief
This chair is designed to be made of simple 2x4 planks to make for easy user-friendly assembly and possible repair. Each piece will be able to be flat packed for easy and sustainable shipping. The chair is made of alder wood which is local to Eugene and each knot and imperfection is used to avoid waste. The chair is meant to be structurally sound to withstand whichever environment it is placed in by the user.
For this specific environment I chose my own front porch and screened-in porch. I chose this because I find myself naturally gravitating towards spaces like this to reset my mind and find some peace. This chair should be comfortable, wide, afford multiple sitting positions, and possibly feature arms for space and items. Some constraints will be temperature and moisture of the environment as it is a partially outdoor chair that will experience change.
