Design Brief
This partner project was to create an outfit from non traditional materials that met the criteria of a ‘system’ (solar system, ecosystem, telephone system). The outfit had to be custom fit to one of the team members and modeled. Students were given 2 weeks to plan, gather supplies, construct, and prepare for a fashion show where the outfit would be displayed.
For our project we chose to focus our outfit around the Circle of Life or Tree of Life. Over the 2 weeks given, we spent time custom casting bodices, spray painting wires, molding plastics, and much more to ensure we made a piece that would perform on the runway. We wanted to focus the overall idea of nature and mother nature coming together in a unique way of fashion rather than the tradition homage to our planet. Once we decided our plan, we began construction. We spent many hours of adapting and changing as it had it's successes and challenges.
